Search beyond tickets?

My firm is looking for something like Lighthouse and so far it looks very promising. However, it's currently not possible to search beyond tickets?

I'm thinking messages, fileattachments, milestones?

Thanks, Oskar

You can search inside a milestone. http://forum.activereload.net/faqs/getting-started/how-do-i-search-for-tickets has information on searching within milestones.

At this point in time it is not possible to search outside the tickets portion of Lighthouse though, such as messages/pages/or specific attachments.

In retrospect, it's rare that the quantity of messages/pages content is of enough volume to fully require search.

We have been debating the idea of how to handle an attachment manager or area portion of Lighthouse though.

    Thank you.

Well, it's just say we once had a problem regarding cats and we touched the subject both in the milestone, tickets and we even had a message/page for it with a photo of the cat in question.

When I type in search I expect to see everything we've done with the cat (lame pun intended, sorry).

If I just wanted to show tickets I'd write something like "tickets:cat" I guess.

Perhaps it's just my logic but it's certainly something I'd very much like implemented, to fully search what we've written :-)

I hope I've expressed my point and idea clear enough, if not please tell me.

    Thanks, Oskar

Indeed I understand what you are saying. Lighthouse search isn't designed to really function that way. It's based on the state/workflow of the ticket, and then the tags assigned to a ticket.

    Thank you for your feedback.

There could be another type of search that could search the project - that would be really useful to find things with.

Raymon, what exactly do you want to be able to search for?

I'm thinking of a separate search engine that searches through messages, pages, (in the future, attachments) and tickets. It would be literally a separate search engine mechanism used (behind the scenes of course).

Two ideas come to mind on the interface: 1) maybe between My Profile and Setting in the upper left, the word 'Search All', and when one clicks it, a javascript input box opens up below those words, or 2) in the Overview page, somewhere below PAGES, a Search All word which behaves however makes the most sense. Of course, other people will have other ideas of what is best.

Anyway in which the search term gets entered, the results would display on its own page, which could eventually have a neat means of selecting a filter for filtering the search term on tickets/messages/milestones/or pages.

So, the key idea here is: the search-all engine independently searches outside of the ticket search engine. It could be optimized to do its thing own its own.

To answer your question directly, I want to be able to search across the project for any term. Better yet, would be able to search across all projects (later ;) ) - just like the 'cat' example given earlier in this discussion.

This is probably a killer issue for us - failure to search Writeboards is one of the things driving us from Basecamp.
