I would like to add a place on tickets for the users to enter optional information about where the bug occurred, such as "Platform" with a drop-down list of options (Mac, XP, etc). Is that possible?

I'm sorry, Lighthouse does not support custom fields. You could use the API and make your own form to include this data input, but if it's coming from anonymous users, http://tenderapp.com would be a better choice probably. You'd still have to use the API for specific forms though.
