projects I work on when I get time. They have just gotten to the
point where post-it notes won't do anymore.

I assumed that there was somewhere an open source bug tracking
system I could use. And I simply assumed that the database system
would be on my own machine.

I haven't found the spot where lighthouse explicitly states
where the bug database is stored, on your machine or mine.

Also, I signed up at help.lighthouseapp.com but find, I think,
that I should signup somewhere else if I really want to use the
system. Is this right? It doesn't say so explicitly.

There must be some reason for two signups but it is not
obvious.

Can you recommend an open source bug tracking system I can use
for my tiny-team projects?

fredistictag:help.lighthouseapp.com,2008-09-20:Comment/142512008-10-29T08:06:56Z2009-06-20T20:03:15ZGeneral Confusion

Lighthouse is a hosted service. We handle the application and
our awesome friends over at Engine
Yard handle the hosting and database, you just have to use it.
You can create a local system which uses the Lighthouse API, but
that's a bit overkill.

help.lighthouseapp.com is a new system we are working on for
application support, at the moment it is a pain to have to
signup/login outside of lighthouse, but think this is only
temporary while we continue to build the new system.

To signup for Lighthouse, you would start by choosing a plan:
http://sera.lighthouseapp.com/plans which will probably be the free
personal plan if you are just giving Lighthouse a whirl for the
first time.

Lighthouse houses some pretty awesome projects, such as Ruby on Rails, MooTools, and SproutCore to name a few...

We also recommend Lighthouse first. We built it because other
ticket tracking applications did not fit our needs, turns out a lot
of people felt the same way and Lighthouse kind of grew to become
what it is today.

Will Duncantag:help.lighthouseapp.com,2008-09-20:Comment/142512008-10-29T11:54:56Z2009-06-20T20:03:16ZGeneral Confusion

A whirl for the first time -- is what I will do. Thanks.

fredistic
