Custom ticket fields?

Hi all, just starting out with Lighthouse because we're thinking of moving our projects from our antiquated tracking system to a newer, better one.

Something I've just run into when trying our Lighthouse -- is there any way to add custom fields to tickets? Some fields I'd like to add are: - Ticket type (bug, task, feature request, etc) - Estimate (in hours) - Priority (critical, high, low, etc)

If we can't currently do this, are there any plans to add such capability?

Thanks! rusty

No hard plans. There have been a few requests, but not much compelling evidence that it's essential for enough Lighthouse users. Most people get by with tags.

Hi Nick, thanks for the response... Put me down for +1 on custom fields.

I think there is a lot you can't express with tags that you'd need custom fields for. Take "Hours Estimate" -- hopefully we can all agree that tagging a ticket with "1" or "2.5" is not the purpose of tagging.

Same with priority -- say I want to sort my tickets by priority, besides tags being the wrong use for this as well, how would you let the system know that "Medium" needs to come in between "High" and "Low"?

    Thanks, rusty

We'll probably be adding an hourly estimate field to Lighthouse actually. I'm not planning on adding estimation to LH really, I just want the field their for integration with other tools that could use that feature.

Priority is a weird issue with Lighthouse. We just don't see the point in a priority system. We do allow you to reorder your tickets on the milestone view. We use that for our priority system, and a @high tag for new issues that haven't yet been assigned to a milestone.

However, some people just need a priority system for "larger projects", so we added an option in the account settings to enable a priority dropdown like you're looking for.

Hi Nick, thanks for addressing this! I'm assuming that account setting will be in a future roll-out? I couldn't find it on the settings screen.

    Hi Nick,

Customizing priorities in Lighthouse would be a really great tool for our development process. GitHub's "Issues" interface is way too simple for user-based task management, but they do a great job prioritizing items using simple drag and drop.

    Cheers, Jamie

Lighthouse prioritizes items using a simple drag and drop system as well. If you disable the explicit priority system option, you can reorder items in milestones.
