Why do you use markdown instead of textile?
I have to admit after using Textile (or something very similar
to it) in Basecamp, Backpack, and Mingle it's a bit of a struggle
switching to Markdown. The documentation isn't as thorough either
on Markdown.
Why does Lighthouse use markdown? I'm just curious... and any tips for making a switch? resources? I already read through:
http://daringfireball.net/projects/markdown/syntax
Are there plans to implement a better way format text?

That's actually a very valid question. Early versions of Lighthouse contained a lightweight textile-like setup, which worked fine, but it wasn't flexible for detailed formatting.
When we looked into beefing it up, we had received a lot of Markdown requests from our users, and began to look at a fully functional markdown more closely.
In the end, we found Markdown much cleaner to read in emails and notifications from Lighthouse, which is one of the advantages Lighthouse offers over other ticket-trackers.
In the end it was just a better fit.

Hi there, I love switch to Markdown, but the # (h1) tags are rendered smaller than the ## (h2) tags which is a bit confusing.
