Is it correct that all users can edit my comments?

I am new and wonder if it's okay that other users may edit others comments? probably not, no?

  • created a project with a ticket
  • posted a comment to the ticket
  • invited a user
  • user signed up and read the ticket
  • user hovered my first comment
  • hit "edit" on mine and wrote his message
  • his message appears in my comment

Is this a bug or a feature?

    Lighthouse is designed for team members to work together, there are not levels of permissions, just owner/admin/member. Yes, Other project members can edit your tickets. I edit the details in team members tickets all the time, if it needs to be more clear or the bug cause is incorrect, etc.

    Hmm.. i would say that's what comments are for.

    If we just collaborate in wiki-style using a single comment where is the revision history so others can keep track of changes? There was no e-mail about the change and no word about who changed it and why. There should be "edit-reason" at least. And better yet, diff markers (+/-) so one can see what has changed.

    Without any of those extra functions that help indicating changes i am strongly against this editing permission.

    Comments have a timestamp and a author - edits don't.

    What would happen if someone thoughtfully changes some of my comments and i then re-edit it because i don't like it. The anon author would loose his changes and again: no one would be notified, even if he is watching the ticket. This can lead to major confusion about what the current state is.

    I sure can tell everyone in my team to leave a comment after they've edited someone else comment, but what's the point?

    That is indeed what comments are for, my mention of frequent use was very minor details that I tend to edit, mostly for self clarification and correcting URLs, if it is a change in the tickets direction, tagging, assignments or actual main language indeed I post an update.

    To be honest, in almost two users there have been very few questions about the ability to edit other team members tickets. It's designed to be a simple issue tracker, and be molded around your workflow. I can't think of a single case where it was a problem and someone was not notified because they didn't update the ticket, it's more of an inner-team options.
