Suggestion to lighthouse with regards to memcache (attn: Tim Clark)

Since my last topic was closed, I'll start a new one.

A tool we've recently started using that helps with memcached scaling is CouchBase (was known as Membase). It handles growing and shrinking clusters seamlessly, without any configuration changes on the client (the client talks to a Moxi proxy daemon, which communicates with CouchBase). Moxi speaks the CouchBase protocol and is aware of all the cluster configuration changes and the mapping of which keys go to which server. It's a slick setup, and we've survived two memcache machines (AWS) failing on us today by using it. It takes literally minutes to setup and is a drop in replacement for memcached.

I suggest you look at it to avoid this problem in the future.

Thanks for the suggestion! We've added Dalli to the setup and that should prevent the problem from recurring.

    Thanks again,
