I expected external links to open in a new browser window or tab, but they don't. Is there a way to set this as a default? If not, is there a way to add the target=_blank attribute to tickets using markdown or some other way I can make this functionality happen?

We don't support opening links in new tabs as default. You can open links in a new window by apple/command+clicking the link. We consider this a usability no-no.

    Thanks,

Thanks for your response Nicole. I'm curious about the "usability no-no"
    part. Can you elaborate?

    Thanks again!

Sure, the thinking is you shouldn't impose this behavior upon any user. A browser is the user's property. If a user wants to open all links in tabs or in new windows, then let the user do exactly that.

    Thanks,
    Nicole
