Image save to CDN latency
We're experiencing wait times of up to a few minutes on image upload to your Amazon CDN, is this being worked on for improving the performance?

Chris -
Can you give us an example of an image that took longer than you expected? We'll take a look and see if there is anything remarkable about their upload times.
Thanks,
Nicole

Hi Nicole,
Any image attachment on our account, all routinely take 2 or so minutes to
show up.
Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,
Are you talking about simply uploading an image to a discussion? All images are processed in the background, so there will always be a small wait time as they have to be picked up by a job runner who will resize the thumbnail and upload the file to our CDN. We need to show a message saying that the image is being processed, but I don't think we will change the basic process in the near future.
Let me know what you think.
Cheers.

Hi Julien,
I figured that was the general process, I wonder where the bottleneck is
then that leads to 2 minute delays, perhaps it's the cycle of the runner?
Thanks,
Chris

Well, it depends on the number of jobs in the queue at any point in time. Different jobs have different priorities and the upload of files is a low one, so it's possible it takes more than a few seconds for those jobs to run from the moment they are created. Then there can be latency at different parts in the process.
I guess we could probably optimize it, but that would require some time and considering other tasks we're working on, it's not a priority.

Can you provide any updates on this. Please see attached image. Even after refresh, almost 11 minutes have gone by before attachment is viewable.
Seems to have gotten worse.

Hey Chris,
I looked at our processing time for the past few months, and there indeed seems to be a slow down. I'll investigate and get back to you.

Hey Chris,
Just wanted to let you know that I made a couple of improvements, and the upload time is now between 1 and 3 seconds on average.
Let me know how it goes.
Cheers!
