Prioritize Tickets
Hey All,
Great work on LightHouseApp. We're just digging into using it more.
One thing: Is there a way to prioritize tickets?
Has this functionality been included already, or shall I enter it in as a "Featured Request"?
Thanks!

You can prioritize tickets in milestones. The drag and drop functionality is currently not working in firefox 3 or safari 3.1. This is fixed in the update that'll be pushed any night now.

So how does that work exactly? It would be way more useful to be able to give a 1 -5 priority when you are creating tickets. Unfortunately I may have to cancel my account as I can't see the usefulness in a tracking system without priority.
Can you give me any suggestions as to how I can get round this?

Chris, how much have you played around with lighthouse? prioritize probably doesn't seem like a very upfront feature at first glance. You can prioritize inside the milestone, which is handy for the developer when they actually sit down and start working on tickets which have been organized:
but it's also very common that tags are used to indicate priority, such as @high and @low which has been a very nice combo for my and my teams inside lighthouse. I haven't had a complaints about workflow or tickets not getting attention since this was adopted into Lighthouse for us.

Hey guys, I'm sorry for the spam. I'm going to resolve this so no one will be able to spam it anymore and bug you guys with another useless email.
We've done a bit more discussing, and I think we're going to be making the ticket priority values visible in the UI (reordering the tickets in the milestone as Will showed actually does set a priority of 1-?). I'm thinking of adding some cross-milestone search that sorts by that priority value too.
You can do
sort:priorityin the ticket search now, but it takes the milestone due date into account. This works great for me because as a team we sprint on a single milestone at a time. Priority 1 tickets for next weeks milestone are less important than priority 10 tickets for the current milestone. But I want to add another search mode that goes by priority level only, so you can see all priority 1 tickets regardless of milestone.Rick closed this discussion on 10 Feb, 2009 12:58 AM.
