You can cancel your account on http://holgerhubbs.lighthouseapp.com/payment at the bottom of the page.
The free account is the same as paid accounts, just limited in the number of users/projects available. Would you mind explaining what you found constricting in more detail?

I could delete my project but didn't see an option to cancel my user profile.

Lighthouse does have an API, which you can manually export your data, we also have a CVS export of project data currently in the works. Maybe in the future you will come back and it will suit your needs.

No CVS anymore. I switched to Git, which I enjoy very much. Thank you!

Ha, I meant CSV, Comma-separated value, for exporting data. We're git users as well.

Pretty sure Will meant a CSV export. And there's plenty of support for Git, too, thru the use of beacons and the API.
