Is it possible to have a free account (not only for the trial lifetime) for small projects / students ?
for example, 1 user and 3 projects, just for small projects and would be a way to get into the application :-)
Just like FogBugz have at http://www.fogcreek.com/FogBugz/StudentAndStartup.html
It would be really helpful as you could generate more users and
then would be easier to extent the "Students and Startups" into a
payed account.

We do have a free plan, but it has 1 free project with 2 active users. You can also have unlimited open source projects on the account. If it's for a specific University project or something we do make exceptions, but generally our free level plan stands as is, which is essentially what FogBugz is offering.
