Ability to Tag Users into Subteams

Here at our company we all work on the same project but have separate scrum teams (4 of them). It would be really helpful if we could tag individual users as being part of a team and then when viewing a Lighthouse project, filter by that team's tag.

    Hi George,

Lighthouse has always adopted a simple permission mechanism. It is unlikely we'll introduce such a feature. I suggest using tags instead.

Let me know if I can help you with anything else.

    Thank you Julien,

This wouldn’t so much be a permission thing. It’s more along the lines of what you can do with advanced search. Much like you can tag an issue. It would be great to tag a person.

    Thanks for considering it.

    Hey George,

I would simply use a tag teamX.

    Cheers.

    Thanks Juien,

Interesting suggestion. That would work but it would mean that we would always need to remember to tag each issue with the person’s team. Not ideal by any means but workable. Where as what I’m suggesting is that a person always has a tag and any issue assigned to them, those issues would get auto tagged with the team.

Perhaps I could also try doing this with an advanced search of all issues from certain users that make up the team.

    Thanks.

    Hey George,

Lighthouse does not support OR conditions, so creating a search for team members would be very difficult (though you may be able to do it by excluding people instead).

Another alternative would be to simply use a hook: when a ticket is updated/created, you'll receive a call, and you can lookup the users, their teams, and add the appropriate tags.

    Thanks Julien,

I think this will work. I just set up this advanced search:

    milestone:next responsible:'Chakri Kodali' responsible:'David LeMieux' responsible:'George Penston' responsible:'John DiMattia' responsible:'John Skinner' responsible:'Kyle Laymon’

And then I saved it as a shared Search Bin.  It seems to totally provide me with what I’m looking for.

    Thanks.
