Is there a way to create custom fields for a ticket? Thats the only thing hold us back from purchasing a subscription.

Thanks, Mark

Lighthouse does not offer a custom fields feature. What exactly are you wanting custom fields for?

    Hi,

    Things like:

build #, Drop-down with compenent area Type of defect

Ideally the ability to create / define our own fields would be perfect.

    Thanks, Mark

I thought I needed the Component Area drop-down too, but actually, tags work great. Same thing with defect type. So, essentially, I might tag a ticket as a 'dashboard' 'feature' (2 different tags) or a 'users' 'bug'.

Then, just generate searches for those things you need and save them as a "Ticket Bin". You can have "Bugs", "Features" (and whatever other Defect Types you need). Same thing with Component/Area. If you tag your tickets with a "found in" build # or "fix for", etc, you can generate searches for that too.

Problem with tags is that they're "flat". Using tags for, say, priority (high, medium, low), complexity (rich, moderate, simple, text change), component (front end, sprocs, datamodel, codesmith, etc), AND VersionFoundIn (pull down list of build ID's), makes it overly-difficult to enter a fully-detailed ticket. All those tags floating together in the cloud vs four simple drop-downs. With the cloud, a tester or dev is going to miss one of the required items.

I totally see the beauty of a clean, minimalist bug report with a tag cloud, but lots of project processes still have required attributes for each "valid" bug report. And each project process has their own; hence the value of allowing customers to add their own.

Would also love the option for additional text entry/"comment" fields: one for description, and one for steps to recreate, for example.

Currently using a CVSDude-hosted TRAC installation. It's painful, slow, and archaic. But it DID let us man-handle our custom fields into the tickets and reports. Lack of these options is, sadly, a deal breaker. Which STINKS 'cause this looks like such a clean, fast, yet still affordable system! Will keep watching tho...
