Moving tickets from one project to another causes a number collision
According to the knowledge base article, when you move a ticket from one project to another, the moved ticket is supposed to receive a new ticket number at the end of the current tickets in the project. This is not actually happening. For example, I created a new project, then created a new ticket, number 1. Then I moved that ticket to an existing project. When I click on the link in the project where the ticket was moved to for that ticket, it takes me to the previously existing ticket number 1 from that project, and not to my new ticket. There is no way to ever see the details of that moved ticket any more.

Hi Chris,
What you describe appears to me to be the correct, intentional functionality -- when you make a new project with a ticket #1 and move that ticket elsewhere, it will no longer be ticket #1, it will be assigned a new number. By going to the destination project and clicking the #1 link, it should send you to that project's original #1.
In order to view the new ticket, you should go to the ticket list and select the new highest numbered ticket, or do a search on its title to get the new number. Am I understanding your description properly?
Thanks,
Tim

I think the problem, or at least as I see it, is that when I go to the destination project, I see the ticket that I moved over in the ticket list and in the overview. But whenever I click on that link, it always takes me to the original ticket. The description is correct, and the link to it has the title of the ticket in it as all others do, it just does not go where I expect. Am I making sense now? If not, I can provide some screenshots so you can tell me if this is the intended behavior or some unintended side effect.

Hi Chris,
A screenshot would help me visualize this -- you see the moved ticket in its destination project with a new number and its correct title, but on clicking it, it sends you to the ticket in the source project rather than the destination project?
Thanks,
Tim

I was able to verify the functionality working as you described where if I search for tickets and see the list, then I see the new ticket number and it works. I guess the part that I find confusing is the link to the ticket in the overview still shows the old number and goes to the previous ticket. It would be nice if when it was moved over to the new project, it displayed the new ticket number in the new project in the overview and the link took you to the newly created ticket.

Here are two screen shots. The first shows the ticket as it appears in the destination project, with its original ticket number from the source project. In the second you see the screen I was shown when I clicked the link, still in the destination project, but the ticket that came up is the original #1 from that project, even though the url has the title of the new ticket in it (but still has the original ticket number).

Chris -
Thanks for the screenshots, that's definitely a bug in the overview listing. The ticket you moved is still there - https://priviahealth.lighthouseapp.com/projects/83983/tickets/1571-..., so the info isn't lost or being overwritten.
I've made a development ticket for this and we'll get it fixed as soon as we can. We'll update this discussion when the fix is in place.
Thanks for your patience,
Nicole
