formatting
its terrible. it doesn't even respect the rules its supposed to follow. indenting is a mess, line breaks disappear, its madness. it is incredibly frustrating.
id strongly recommend just implementing something like ckeditor and calling it a day.

Lighthouse uses a non-standard version of Markdown that includes a few custom elements. This is a fairly standard way to handle simple formatting. We don't believe there is any reason for anything more complex than this in Lighthouse.

yah, but it doesnt work reliably, check this, and hit edit. The
indenting goes haywire, this is true for * and > and one cant input tabs
because there must be some javascript or something on the input window.

I'll also share why i think you have reach the wrong conclusion about
need. Many people using the service are clients of your clients, so like
our clients add issues. Others are graphic designers or project planners
- not developers. Markdown and all wikish syntax is, contrary to some
beliefs, incredibly geeky and opaque to most people. We see far more
comfort from people using simple wysiwyg editors, such as fck. We're not
looking for complex formatting, we're looking for easy ways to input the
basics, bolding, italicizing, bullets, indenting, headers, paragraph
breaks.
We tried to write a little functional spec doc using our pages, we had
to give up. We couldnt tab or indent or even get paragraph breaks like
we wanted - a simple extra row sometimes is handy to help separate
sections - we gave up. We're linking out to google docs as inconvenient
as that is. And it is inconvenient.
I'm a developer, ive used wiki syntaxes for years. I'm having a heck of
a time doing some simple formating with the lighthouse tools. My
clients, for get it. Our designers, they'll give up faster than I do.

In a text box, you use 3 spaces since tabs are not available. I corrected the formatting on the numbers list in that ticket.
Space + Space + Return will product a line break, or a full break products another paragraph.
We appreciate the feedback though. It is however highly unlikely that we'll add any wysiwyg/formatting editor to Lighthouse.
